Exciting news! Canthooks restaurant is under new management! We are looking to hire a hard-working and enthusiastic prep cook year-round to assist with all food preparation activities. To be successful as a prep cook, you should be:

  • knowledgeable of various cooking techniques,
  • have a passion for food,
  • able to work in a fast-paced environment, and
  • demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook full-course meals, individual dishes, and foods for customers.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Estimate food requirements and costs.
  • Inspect kitchens and food service areas.
  • Assist with the training of staff in the preparation, cooking, and handling of food.
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Work with specialized cooking equipment (deep fryer, etc.).
  • Clean kitchen and work areas, and wash dishes.
  • Organize and manage buffets and banquets.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Pursuing or a completed degree in culinary arts is an asset.
  • A food handler’s license is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Expected compensation of $18-$22 per hour based on experience.
  • Resort amenities and benefits.
