Privacy Protection Policy
At Calabogie Peaks Resort we stress the importance of privacy and are committed to earning the trust of our guests by adopting high standards for the protection of personal information.
Our Privacy Policy outlines the type of personal information we collect and receive, the circumstances in which we collect or receive personal information, the policies and procedures we have established outlining its use and storage and the sharing of certain types of personal information in certain limited circumstances, the procedures you should follow if you have any questions or requests in respect of your personal information on our policies and procedures and the person to whom such questions or requests should be directed, and the means by which to communicate with that person.
Personal Information
In this policy, personal information means information about an identifiable individual. It includes or may include information such as name, address, email address or phone number, age, marital status, employment history, lifestyle or personal tastes and perhaps opinions about that individual, credit card information, financial resources, health or medical data, allergies, physical description and that is not otherwise publicly available and is not part of your work identification.
It also includes information on guest preference and usage, when such information is supplied to or recorded by Calabogie Peaks Resort in the course of transacting business with an individual.
It also includes information on physical description, such as weight, height, shoe size, health information such as allergies, injuries, product preference and usage, when such information is supplied to or recorded by Calabogie Peaks Resort in the course of ensuring safety and transacting business with an individual.
Why CPI Collects Information
i. to establish and maintain a responsible commercial relationship with customers;
ii. for purposes identified to individuals or purposes obvious to individuals, in respect of particular collections of personal information;
iii. to meet legal and regulatory requirements
iv. to understand needs and preferences of individuals
v. to develop, enhance, market and/or provide products and services;
vi. to management and develop CPI's business and operations
vii. to allow job applicants to submit resumes or respond to job listings
How CPI Collects Personal Information
Consent
With your consent we gather personal information from you in person, over the telephone, or by corresponding with you via mail, email or the internet. All personal information created, held or collected by Calabogie Peaks Inc., is protected under the Federal Privacy Act. This means that at any point of collection you will be asked for consent to collect your information, and you will be informed of the purpose for which it is being collected and how to exercise your right of access to that information. Consent is the voluntary agreement with the collection, use and disclosure of personal information for defined purposes. Consent can be either express, implied or deemed, and can be provided directly by the individual or by an authorized representative. Express consent can be given orally, electronically or in writing. Implied consent is consent that can reasonably be inferred from an individual's action or inaction. Deemed consent is consent that is deemed to be given pursuant to applicable legislation or other regulations.
If you enter a contest or other promotion offered by Calabogie Peaks, your personal information will be used to administer the promotion, including the use of your name and selected other information for the purposes of contacting, announcing and promoting winners of the promotion. If a customer participates in a contest or promotion his/her personal information may be used to reach him/her about the contest or promotion, and for other promotional, marketing and business purposes. All entry forms will provide a way for participants to opt out of communications from Calabogie Peaks Inc. that are not related to awarding prizes for the contest or promotion.
Direct Mail/Telemarketing
Those who supply CPI with personal information may receive periodic mailings or phone calls from us with information on new products or services or upcoming special offers or events. Clients may also contact us to opt-out of such communications.
Research/Survey Solicitations
From time to time we may perform research online and offline by conducting surveys of our customers. Participation in these surveys is voluntary, and the information collected will be used for research and reporting purposes to help us better serve customers by learning more about their needs. We may contact a customer to inquire or survey about the guest experience and the prospect of future stays or the improvements needed to attract additional business from the customer. Survey responses may also be used by us to determine the effectiveness of our web sites, various types of communications, advertising campaigns, and or promotional activities.
In certain circumstances personal information can be collected, used or disclosed without the knowledge and consent of the individual, such as in the case of an emergency where the life, health or security of an individual is threatened. CPI may disclose personal information without knowledge or consent to a lawyer or other advisor representing CPI, to collect a debt or comply with a subpoena, warrant or other court order, or as may be otherwise required or authorized by Law.
Job Search Area
Applications and résumés submitted via the calabogie.com website will be entered into a Calabogie Peaks Resort proprietary database. Calabogie Peaks Resort does not sell, distribute or disclose personally identifiable information collected in this database to any third parties, except as required by court order or any other legal or regulatory requirement. Information submitted may be shared with other Calabogie Peaks Resort member firms for the same purpose.
To update any application or résumé you have submitted, please forward your new information via the careers section. Calabogie Peaks Resort cannot personally respond to individual requests for applicant status.
Cookies
The Calabogie Peaks Resort website and/or any of its governed sections may use cookies. A "cookie" is technology that allows our site to store tokens of information ("identifiers") in your browser while you are on our site. Cookies are not used to determine the personal identity of visitors to the Canadian website.
If you do not want to receive a cookie from the calabogie.com website, you have the option of setting your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, so that you may determine whether to accept it. However, please be aware that if you turn off cookies in your browser, you may not be able to fully experience certain features of the website.
Web Server Logging and IP Addresses
With or without cookies, our Web site keeps track of usage data, such as the source address that a page request is coming from (i.e., your IP address, domain name), date and time of the page request, the referring Web site (if any), and other parameters in the URL (e.g., search criteria). We use this data to better understand Web site usage on the whole and to determine which areas of our Web site users prefer (e.g., based on the number of visits to those areas). This information is stored in log files and is used by Calabogie Peaks Resort for statistical reporting.
Consent/Opt-out
Limiting Collection, Use, Disclosure and Retention
We collect, use and disclose Personal Information only to the extent necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and as required by law.
Your Personal information is retained only as long as is necessary to fulfill those purposes, subject to reasonable legal limitations periods, statutory or regulatory retention requirements and legitimate business requirements.
Accuracy of Personal Information
We make efforts to ensure the accuracy of Personal Information we use to fulfill your requests and for purposes for which you have consented, and to correct and update our database as necessary for the stated purpose. In the event a customer notifies us that such Personal Information held by CPI is inaccurate or outdated, CPI where appropriate and upon notification and sufficient time for verification, will take all reasonable steps to correct any inaccuracy or update outdated information of which we are made aware. In some circumstances we may not be able to grant you access to your personal information, for example if doing so would threaten the security of another individual.
Security Safeguards
CPI shall protect personal information by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
CPI shall take appropriate and reasonable steps to protect personal information against such risks as loss or theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, modification or destruction.
